Welcome to the skill building club. The gap between industry and academic is well explained. And it’s going to be there because no matter what academia tries to reduce it. Because the inertial of academia is more as they have a job to build knowledge in all disciplines. No one knows where the student will get opportunity for job. There is a huge gap between graduates coming out of universities and opportunities available. So one has to select whatever comes in the way. Now industries provides training for giving updates in the specific miche to suit their needs and specific job related skills are picked up on the job itself. But that will be a slow process and depends on the ability of person to absorb and respond appropriately. Some may excell some may not.

Another option available is to get trained in private institutions who can provide facilities and coaching services for knowledge and skills development. I think people like you will come forward to help bridging the gaps.
